Dwayne Boey turns 1 month old!!!

Dwayne Jian Ming Boey was born on the 27th Feb weighing 3.866kg and turns 1 month old today!!!

I still can't believe I have a baby via natural birth and no epidural. I never thought I was able to do it because it sound so painful and I grew up in an environment where my mother encourages us (me and my sister) to deliver via c-section. Anyway, I was in labour for 3 hours with an excruciating pain then my midwife told me to feel his head and give a few more pushes. It sounds so easy but it takes a lot of energy. Imagine having tummy ache that similar to diarrhea except the pain is 10 times more painful and in the same time having constipation. Every pain you experiences normally has been enhanced 10 times or more. It doesn't ends there, right before the baby's head comes out, you have this burning sensation around the V jay jay! It's called the 'Ring of Fire'. I am fortunate that I do not need an episiotomy (an incision made on the perineum) ,however, I had a 1st degree tear on my perineum. When my midwife told me if the bleeding don't stop, I will need stitches, I almost freak out then she asked me if I would like some snacks or drink and I quickly requested for hot black tea. I'm not sure whether it's a placebo but it stopped the bleeding when I got my teeth extracted for braces. Thankfully the bleeding stopped so I didn't have the stitches. I thought it would be painful to pee after labor, surprisingly not. I guess I over thought every situation that I might faced.

It's an amazing feeling, meeting and holding him for the very first time.

My mom and grandma left on last Tuesday so we are on our own now. The thing I miss most is grandma's food even though it's damn gingerish and having my mommy during the night shift! I miss my family much, they have supported and helped us and making sure we have all the tools that is needed to look after or newborn.

A baby changes everything!
Hubby said to Dwayne: Do you know you're the only guy I kissed the most and your mommy is the only girl I kissed the most!

Hubby and I are now embarking a new journey with baby Dwayne!

Happy Chinese New Year 2012!

Happy Chinese New Year everybody!!!

May all of you be blessed with good health and happiness!!!

Finally, I don't have to worry that my baby won't be a dragon boy! I know I'm missing out this year celebration since I can't go home. Don't be ridiculous and ask me to buy a flight ticket home cause the airline wouldn't allowed a 35 weeks 4 days pregnant woman to be on the board. I know my silly grandmother said to me that if you happen to give birth on a plane, your child probably gets free flight tickets. Lolz.

Last month, hubby kept pestering me about when will little bub coming out cause he can't wait to play with him but I think it's still early. We are really excited and even done packing my hospital bag. Well, hubby pack all the baby stuff and I thinks he overpacks it. Haha. I got into a cosmo programme where I have a midwife assigned for all my check ups and 24hours after labour, I can go home and my midwife will do the check ups at the comfort of my own home.

What's beneath the CRACKS! ! !

My tummy is growing so is my baby but my tummy is definitely not at it's best view at the moment. I didn't notice the cracks (stretch marks) till Mr. Nice, Jo told me so that explains the itching I've been having during the third trimester, luckily I haven't been scratching it! He said he didn't want me to get shock if I happen to see it one day. Well, it's pretty hard for me to bend over most of the time so I honestly didn't know I am developing the stretch marks under my tummy, however, I'm still able to see my toes. Ever since Jo told me about the stretch marks, I get paranoid over it. Now, I think I spend too much time in the shower exfoliating my body daily, staring at the mirror after shower and applying the so called stretch marks prevention lotion which I have been applying since I got pregnant. I doubt any of these lotions really works but I still need to moisturize my skins so better not waste it.

I believe every women's body reacts/develops differently during pregnancy and men should know that not every women's body can have post baby figure like supermodel, Miranda Kerr. Anyway, Jo tries to deal with me as positive as possible and it's takes awhile before I accept the fact that my body is changing to accommodate our precious baby. I mean it must have been shocking for him when he sees it too, right. I also refuses to wear any maternity clothing and so far it's working fine. Well, of course I couldn't fit into any of my jeans but I have few shorts that fits me till now.

Hubby thinks my belly button looks like Pumba! I couldn't see the resemblance till yesterday when I was staring it at the mirror. Haha. Lolz.

It's about time to set up the baby room!

2011 journey was . . . . . .

2011 was a new chapter for Jo and I because we decided to stay in Australia. We moved from Tasmania to Melbourne hoping for better job opportunities. We stayed in our friend's house for 1-2 months while looking for a house. I am thankful to them because they are amazing people with great heart. Thanks again, Neo and Tracy. Around March we found our ideal apartment and applied for permanent residency.

Not long after we moved into our new apartment, my mother was sobbing over the phone and told me that my grandfather was diagnosed with chronic prostate cancer. The next thing I remembered was it's time for me to go back Malaysia and visit my grandfather for the last time. As soon as I arrived Penang, my mom drove me to the general hospital where grandpa was hospitalized. I was sad and traumatized when I first sighted my grandfather, he was thin and motionless with his beeping life support machine. It was surreal to me but death was approaching him fast cause he passed away the next day. I believe he stayed another day just to see his granddaughter for the very last time. I returned to Australia after my beloved grandfather's funeral.

It took awhile before my life in Melbourne resumed back to normal then I started looking for jobs and sending out few resumes. Around June I started feeling sick in the morning and grouchy all the time without hesitation I did a home pregnancy test and the result was positive. We made appointment with a general practitioner and went for an ultrasound and confirmed the pregnancy. The baby was a blessing for us so we told our parents and they seems happy with the news.

We went back to Malaysia beginning of August and organized our wedding ceremony. It was challenging cause we have a date that Jo's dad had picked out for us which only gives us a month to plan but NOT IMPOSSIBLE. We got married on 2008 so we didn't have to worry about the marriage registration but our to-do-lists was still long way to go and not forgetting our chinese tradition. Overall, I believed we managed it cause our parents, in-laws and guests seemed happy and well entertained.

We returned to Australia, Oh I forgotten to mention that we got our PR approved and got our Australian driving license too!! Well, 2011 was a bumpy ride for me but it all ends well. I believe my grandpa is watching over me and my family. I miss you.

Memoirs of my beloved Grandfather

Dearest Grandpa,
Leong Ah Bah @ Leong Hoe Wah
Passed away at the age of 78 on the 10th April 2011 peacefully

Hope you're in better place now and looking over us from above. I'm sorry that I didn't got a chance to say this to you when you're around. But it will not stop me from not telling you at all.

Do you remember those days, you and grandma always bring my favourite dim sum to school during recess time when I'm just a kid, teaches me to make origami ball and boat using grandma used lottery papers, brought me to youth park every weekend with your old Fiat, held me up when I fall off from my swing, rub my head with ointment when there's bruise, cut the chicken meat into smaller pieces so I would eat and the list goes on. I can never imagine growing up without you. Then, a part of me will be filled with emptiness and I probably grow up a different person. You showed me the littlest thing in life is as important as everything else and it doesn't matter even if you're not rich. I don't think any of this memories can be bought even if we are rich. It's priceless...

Also, I remember as a kid when I'm playing my "masak-masak" at your house, you used to play your favourite song Wo Deng Zhe Ni Hui Lai (I'm Waiting For Your Return) on your cassette player. It's funny how it always scare the crap of my brother. But lately this song has been playing in mind and I picture myself in your old Fiat car, staring up the blue sky wondering how does the sky moves and how blue it always is. Now, every time I look above the sky I will always remember you and imagine you will be looking back at me waving your hands to say 'Hi' to me.

You've worked for half a decade of your life and I can't believe you have to go through so much pain before you leave. It's painful to watch the amount of medicine you were given and I just can't believe it. I never regretted to come back and see you for the last time even you weren't conscious cause spiritually I know you were here watching me all the time just couldn't speak to me.

I want you to know how much I loves you and always will be proud to have you as my grandpa, you're the best! Nobody can replace you and you will always be a part of me until the day I die.

Rest in Peace.
